Learning more about the business opportunities and the possibilities of collaboration between Umbria and the US state of South Carolina in the field of electric mobility and sustainability. These are the main issues addressed during the visit of the delegation of the South Carolina Department of Commerce which, at the headquarters of Confindustria Umbria in Perugia, met the representatives of the companies that are part of the Umbria e-mobility Network, the first network of Umbrian companies operating in the sustainable mobility sector.

The meeting was attended by the Deputy Director of Confindustria Umbria Luca Angelini, the Director of Umbria Export – Agency for the internationalization of Confindustria Umbria – Enzo Faloci, Zelimirka Zeljka Karesin, Projects and promotion activities officer of Umbria Export, Alessio Damiani, Vice President of Asterisco Tech, founding company of the Network together with Cimarredi, EN4, Xepics Italia and Privè.

Representing South Carolina: Mr. Christophe Bezou, Senior FDI Advisor and Mr. Sebastian Nowack, EU Economic Advisor – both with South Carolina Department of Commerce’s Europe Office, Ms. Sandy Steele, Director of Operations – SouthernCarolina Regional Alliance and Ms. Annie Caggiano, Director of Business Recruitment – Upstate Alliance.

During the meeting, the skills of the 14 companies that are currently part of the Umbria e-mobility network were illustrated. In addition to the five founders, the following companies have joined the project: Angelantoni Test Technologies, ART, Emotion, Eles semiconductor equipment, König Metall GT, Meccanotecnica Umbra, Sitem, Solaredge e-mobility and Synergie Cad Instruments.

“This visit – underlined Mr. Alessio Damiani – represents a great opportunity for the Umbria e-mobility network, which has among its objectives developing commercial and industrial synergies also at the international level, in one of the most innovative sectors with extensive growth prospects. In our territory there are many highly technological companies that operate in the macro-process of the ecological transition of mobility: this opportunity allows us to start a path aimed at deepening relations with South Carolina, where the automotive sector represents a strong driving force of growth”.

Umbria e-mobility Network was conceived and promoted by Confindustria Umbria with the technical support of Umbria Export, as a part of a project funded by the Chamber of Commerce of Umbria. Established in January 2022, the network  participated – between March and April 2022 – at the fairs of VTM in Turin, the most important international event in Italy for the Smart mobility sector, and in E-TECH EUROPE, the European exhibition and conference on electrical technologies and electronics for the electric vehicle industry, held in Bologna.
